A Silver Lining Foundation Offers Free Breast Screenings at Select Jewel-Osco Stores

CHICAGO (May 1, 2008)— Jewel-Osco is sponsoring “Celebration of Women” between now and May 10 at select Jewel-Osco stores, and offering many benefits for those who participate.

Free mammogram screenings, offered by A Silver Lining Foundation, is one of the many benefits being made available to women who pre-qualify during “Celebration of Women.”

“We recognize that many women do not have health insurance and certainly can’t afford to pay for mammogram screenings, which can be very costly,” said Dr. Sandy Goldberg, founder of A Silver Lining Foundation. “However, no woman should be denied a mammogram because she doesn’t have insurance, or can’t pay for one on her own.”

Select Jewel-Osco stores participating in “Celebration of Women,” are as follows:

Date: Friday, May 9 Time: 4 p.m – 7 p.m. No Mammogram Pre-Screening at this store

Jewel-Osco --- 1220 S. Ashland, Chicago, Ill.,
Date: Friday, May 10 Time: 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. Mammogram Pre-Screening: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Jewel-Osco --- 440 E. Rand Road, Arlington Heights, Ill.
Date: May 9 Not a participant in “Celebration of Women,” but offering Mammogram Pre-Screening. Mammogram Pre-Screening: 11 a.m. -1 p.m.

Live gospel music will be performed at participating stores as well, and women will have an opportunity to win prizes, such as Clear Channel’s “Mother’s Day Gospel Brunch,” a bouquet of flowers, Jewel-Osco gifts cards, and prizes from participating radio stations.
