(Chicago – May 19, 2008) In celebration of Black Music Month, every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, in June, Jewel-Osco will present “Jazz at Jewel”, an event that celebrates the contributions that African Americans have made in the genre of jazz. By combining product sampling, the program is designed to be a fun treat for the entire family.

In honor of the world’s most renowned jazz and music legends, each day will be themed after artists such as Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, and Frankie Beverly, among others. Their classic hits will be played by local Chicago bands. More than 30 of Jewel-Osco’s African American vendors will be at each location sampling their products. Event attendees will also be eligible to win prizes and giveaways. In addition, all Jewel-Osco customers are eligible to receive a $5 gift card per $50 spend in the store.

“It’s been nine years since the creation of Jazz at Jewel and the celebration is still going strong, “says Miguel Alba, director of Public Affairs for Jewel-Osco. “Every year, our customers look forward to this event and we make sure that we do our best to a deliver program that will not disappoint.”
