Un Dia Para Compartir 2009 (A Day of Sharing 2009)

Event Date and Time:
11/19/2009 - 9:00am

In its third year, Un Dia Para Compartir was created to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday with the Latino Community and to provide a “Day of Sharing.” The goal of this event was to share the spirit of the Thanksgiving celebration with underprivileged families and to raise awareness about the growing need for hunger relief, especially in this time of financial crisis.

Jewel-Osco donated 600 Turkey meals that fed approximately 2,400 Latino Families. A total of 100 families from Erie Neighborhood House received the Turkey Meals during the event. The remaining 500 were given to 5 non-profit organizations.

The five non-profit organizations were recognized for their work in the community. Each organization received 100 Jewel-Osco ($25 value) each to be distributed among the families they serve. The recipients were Enlace, Gads Hill Center, Healthcare Alternative Services, Humboldt Park Social Services, and Latinos Progresando.
